Spring 2026 COVID-19 Booster Eligibility:
The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) continues to recommend annual fall COVID-19 vaccination for the general population.
An additional COVID-19 vaccine booster dose is recommended this spring for the following higher-risk populations:

  • Adults 80 years of age and older
  • Adults 65 to 79 years of age may choose to receive an additional dose this spring based on individual risk factors and personal preference
  • Adult residents of long-term care homes and other congregate living settings for seniors
  • Individuals 6 months of age and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised (due to an underlying condition or treatment)
  • Individuals 55 years and older who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis, and their non-Indigenous household members who are 55 years and older

Individuals who do not meet the eligibility criteria — regardless of whether they received a COVID-19 vaccine in Fall 2025 — are not currently recommended to receive a dose at this time. They will be eligible again in the fall for the annual COVID-19 vaccine program.

The Covid-19 vaccine that will be administered at this clinic is the Moderna vaccine.

Additional Vaccines Available at This Clinic
We will also be offering publicly funded shingles and pneumonia vaccines to eligible individuals at this clinic.

Shingles Vaccine Eligibility
The publicly funded shingles vaccine is available for:

  • Adults 65 to 70 years of age
  • Individuals must receive the vaccine before their 71st birthday to qualify for the free two-dose series

Individuals outside of this age range may still purchase the vaccine privately through a pharmacy.

Pneumococcal (Pneumonia) Vaccine Eligibility
The publicly funded pneumococcal vaccine is available for:

  • Adults 65 years of age and older
  • Individuals of any age who have certain high-risk medical conditions (including chronic heart, lung, liver, or kidney disease; diabetes; immunocompromising conditions; or smokers)

This clinic is open to all community members who meet the eligibility criteria, not just patients of the Sharbot Lake Family Health Team.
